Reject Our Opponents’ “Double Emploi” Initiative

Team Robert Soroka is categorically against any initiative that seeks to limit work for our members (despite our opponents’ expressed support for it.) (A Double Emploi clause will disallow anyone working outside of Concordia to teach part-time at Concordia.) The legal opinions we have sought on this issue concludes that any such policy contradicts our Union’s charter and is a violation of one’s right to work.  Furthermore, this issue was discussed thoroughly by our current Executive (at the behest of our opponents) and by prior Executives, and at previous meetings run by prior Executives. Our team embraces the democratic process, the respect for our charter, and basic principles of labour law. As the majority of our members are against such an initiative, and have said so consistently throughout our history, we stand by our commitment to never diminish our members’ workloads by instituting such a policy.
